MISSION PROJECTS ... MANY WAYS TO GET INVOLVED
MEMBERS INTERESTED IN LOCAL "HANDS-ON" MISSION WORK
The Mission Board is seeking WCUCC members interested in helping to develop more robust "hands-on" ministry partnerships with local not-for-profits. Today, WCUCC supports a number of local (Westerville, Columbus, and Central Ohio) organizations with a combination of funding, in-kind donations, and some periodic volunteer support. The Mission Board has a goal to expand its community outreach and provide more variety of mission opportunities for our members-variety in the organizational mission, the type of work, and the time commitment required to participate in mission. We would also like to see more intergenerational opportunities developed.
We know that volunteer opportunities already exist within any number of local organizations. For example, organizations like WARM, Material Assistance Providers, Mid-Ohio Foodbank, Faith Mission, etc. all have regular volunteer opportunities that our church could support in a consistent fashion.
The Mission Board is seeking any WCUCC members who are interested in developing more "hand-on" opportunities to partner with local service organizations. The interested WCUCC members leading this initiative would determine which opportunities to pursue and how best to organize and communicate our church's involvement. If you're a WCUCC member already serving a not-for-profit, this initiative might especially be of interest to you. The potential exists to build a greater level of support from WCUCC for the work of organizations within our community.
Please contact any Mission Board member if you're interested in this idea, or simply have more questions about what it might involve.
